Sarah Poyourow is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and holds a bachelors degree in Political Science from UCSB and a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch. Over the last 6 years her experiences ranged from working with dually diagnosed adults at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara to treating high-risk adolescents in residential facilities. In addition to her intensive training, Sarah completed a four-day advanced DBT training with Charles Swenson, MD. Sarah has adopted the DBT model and enjoys incorporating DBT skills into individual therapy. Grounded in cognitive theories, she works with her clients to uncover their inherent skills and improve their overall quality of life through mindfulness and dialectics. Sarah’s goal is to reduce suffering and enhance the quality of her client’s lives.
Sarah specialized in working with adults, adolescents and families who struggle with chemical addictions, Borderline Personality Disorder, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, self-harming behaviors, and life transitions.
